The Toronto Police Service would like to inform the public about a sexual assault investigation.

On Friday, June 28, 2019, between 9-10 a.m., officers responded to multiple calls for sexual assaults on Yonge Street, between College Street and Dundas Street.

It is alleged that:

- a man on a bicycle and while walking approached five different women

- he sexually assaulted all of them at different times

Anthony Wilson, 33, of Toronto, was arrested. He is charged with:

1. five counts of Sexual Assault

He appeared at Old City Hall on Saturday, June 29, 2019, at 10 a.m., in room 101.

The investigation is ongoing. Investigators believe there may be other victims.

The Toronto Police Service requests the public’s assistance locating a stolen dog in a theft investigation.

On Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at approximately 9:30 p.m., officers responded to a call for a theft in the Wood Street and Church Street area.

It is reported that:

- a 70-year-old man was walking his Yorkshire Terrier named Tuzik

- a man approached him and asked to pet his dog

- the man picked up the dog, unhooked the leash, then fled with the dog

The suspect is described as white, 30-35, short blond hair, 6’0", thin build, wearing a light-coloured shirt and dark pants.

- once inside, he selects varying types of liquor bottles, places them in a bag that he is carrying and walks out of the store without making any attempt to pay

- he was last seen on Tuesday, June 18, 2019, in the Burnhamthorpe Road and Saturn Road area

- the same man is responsible for the theft of over $58,000.00 worth of liquor

Chase Kincaid, 32, of no fixed address, is wanted for:

1) Theft Over $5,000.00

On Wednesday, June 26, 2019, Inspector Lauren Pogue of Hold Up provided an update on a violent gas station robbery investigation.

The news conference can be viewed on Toronto Police YouTube channel.

The Toronto Police Service Hold Up is seeking the assistance identifying a man wanted for a violent gas station robbery. The robbery occurred at a gas station in the Front Street East and Sherbourne Street area.

It is reported that:

- on Thursday, June 13, 2019, at approximately 4:08 a.m., a man entered a gas station kiosk disguised with a baseball hat and a hoodie pulled tight around his face

- he brandished a knife and immediately jumped over the counter

- he pointed the knife at the gas station employee, demanded he open the cash register and ordered him to lay on the floor

- he removed money from the till, putting it in his hoody pockets

- the employee was compliant and remained laying prone on the floor

- after removing all the money he violently and unprovoked stomped on the employee head several times, rendering him unconscious and then fled the store

- the employee was eventually located and transported to the hospital suffering from a fractured orbital bone and skull, and cuts and bruising to his face. He is now recovering from the injuries.

The suspect is described as black, mid 20s, 5'8"– 5'10" muscular build, wearing a dark hoodie with a silver zipper, black “Chuck Taylor” style running shoes, black gloves.

- a man was in an elevator with a 28-year-old woman and sexually assaulted her

On Saturday, June 22, 2019, Amir Pekmez, 32, of Toronto, was arrested. He is charged with:

1. Sexual Assault
2. Overcome Resistance by attempting to Choke
3. Forcible Confinement
4. Break and Enter with Intent

He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, June 24, 2019, at College Park Courts at 10 a.m. in room 501.

Pride Toronto has organized the Dyke March to take place on Saturday, June 22, 2019, at 2 pm. Approximately 10,000 participants and 50 motorcycles are expected to attend this event. The march will proceed regardless of weather conditions.

The parade will start forming up on Church Street at approximately 12 p.m.

Numerous road closures will be in effect, including:

At 12 pm:

- Church Street, from Hayden Street to Bloor Street East
- Hayden Street, from Yonge Street to Church Street

At 1 pm:

- Bloor Street East from Church Street to Yonge Street
- Yonge Street from Bloor Street to Carlton Street
- Carlton Street from Yonge Street to Jarvis Street

The Dyke March will commence at 2 p.m., and will proceed along the following route:

Start: Bloor Street East at Church Street
West: Bloor Street East
South: Yonge Street
East: Carlton Street
End: Allan Gardens - Carlton Street, just east of Jarvis Street

All roads are expected to be reopened by approximately 7 pm.

TTC: The Dundas Street streetcar route will be out of service during this closure.

On Thursday, June 13, 2019 police were called to the area of King Street East and Jarvis Street for a stabbing.

It is reported that:

- a 21-year-old man was in the park near the fountain

- at approximately 4:30 a.m., an unknown person began to assault him

- the man walked to a local hospital with multiple stab wounds

- the man suffered life-altering injuries

On Thursday, June 20, 2019 at approximately 1:15 p.m., responded to a call for a Personal Injury Collision at Dundas Street East and Regent Park Boulevard.

It is reported that:

- a 39-year-old woman was standing on the southeast corner of the intersection

- a 40-year-old man was driving a Mazda CX9 on eastbound Dundas Street East approaching Regent Park Boulevard

- the driver of the Mazda lost control of his vehicle, mounting the southeast curb. The vehicle struck a fire hydrant before striking the pedestrian

- the pedestrian sustained fatal injuries and succumbed to her injuries at the scene

- the driver of the Mazda fled the scene of the collision on foot, but was arrested by police a short distance away

Joshua Smoke, 40, of Toronto, was charged with:

1) Impaired Operation of a Conveyance Causing Death
2) Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance Causing Death
3) Leave Accident Scene Causing Death

He is scheduled to appear in court at College Park on Friday, June 21, 2019, 10 a.m., room 501.

Police are asking local residents, business, and drivers, who may have security or dash camera footage of the area or incident, to contact investigators.

Pride Toronto has organized the Trans March, which will take place on Friday, June 21, 2019.

The event will begin at 7:00 a.m., at the Pride Festival Street Festival, North Stage, located at Church Street and Isabella Street. It will wind its way through the downtown core eventually concluding at Allan Gardens, at 8:00 p.m.

A rolling road closure will take place in association with the march. Street lanes along the route will be closed. All other lanes will be open to traffic.

The rolling road closure route is as follows:

- Church Street from Isabella Street to Bloor Street East
- Bloor Street East from Church Street to Yonge Street
- Yonge Street from Bloor Street to Carlton Street

The Toronto Police Service received more than 3,100 unwanted guns from Toronto residents from April 26 to May 17, 2019.

Over the three-week Gun Buyback Program, which was funded by the City of Toronto, police collected over 2,200 long guns and over 900 handguns for destruction. It is the largest number of firearms collected through a gun buyback program in Toronto.

Chief Mark Saunders said the program was asked for by members of the public who no longer wanted these guns in their homes.

"This is a great outlet for the public to get rid of unwanted guns that may pose a risk because they are improperly stored and otherwise neglected. They can fall into the wrong hands through theft and be sold on the street," he said. "This program is part of a larger strategy to help reduce the supply of guns available to criminals. I’m confident we’ve kept some guns out of the wrong hands through this program.'

In July 2018, Toronto City Council adopted the Immediate Steps to Address Gun Violence report, which included a Council decision to establish a gun buyback program. The City of Toronto funded the program with unanimous approval from City Council.

Under the Gun Buyback Program, Toronto residents were able to request police pick up a registered or unregistered gun from their home for destruction for compensation amounting to $200 for long guns and $350 for handguns. Residents who turned over guns to police for destruction would not face charges for possessing or unsafely storing a firearm.

On Friday, June 14, 2019, at approximately 4:17 a.m., officers were on patrol and monitoring a large crowd in the Yonge Street and Gould Street area.

It is alleged that:

- a 19-year-old man became involved in an altercation with another man

- the other man produced a gun and shot the 19-year-old man

- he continued to shoot even as the 19-year-old had fallen

- he then fled with a group of friends

- officers, responding to the sound of gunshots, stopped the group

- guns and drugs were seized from the group

Abdulrahman Abdullahi, 23, of Toronto, is charged with:

On Saturday, June 8, 2019, at approximately 12:14 a.m., officers responded to a call for a medical complaint in the Yonge Street and Charles Street area.

Paramedics and police arrived on scene and located a man with life- threatening injuries. The man was then taken to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a short while after, and was pronounced deceased.

Through investigation it was determined that the deceased had been standing by the main door of 730 Yonge Street, when he was attacked by a male suspect who fled the scene on foot. It is undetermined whether or not the suspect and the deceased were known to each other.

The deceased has been identified as James Andrew Smith, 54, of Toronto.

On Monday, June 10, 2019, Eric Bryant Ram, 24, of no fixed address was arrested and charged with:

1) Second-Degree Murder

He is scheduled to appear in court at College Park on Monday, June 10, 2019, 2 p.m., room 501.

The Toronto Police Service requests the public’s assistance identifying a man wanted in an Aggravated Assault investigation.

On Friday, June 7, 2019, officers began an investigation into a stabbing in the Queen Street East and Sackville Street area.

It is alleged that:

- a man and a woman became involved in a verbal argument

- the man stabbed the female and then fled the area

- the female was transported to the hospital with serious injuries

The suspect is described as male, 6’0” to 6’2”, 170 lbs., thin build, wearing a black baseball cap with a white logo, blue jeans, a dark coloured jacket, brown work boots, and carrying two backpacks.

He is considered armed, violent and dangerous. If located, do not approach. Call 9-1-1 immediately.

On Saturday, June 8, 2019, at approximately 12:14 a.m., officers responded to a call for a medical complaint in the Yonge Street and Charles Street area.

Paramedics and police arrived on scene and located a man with life threatening injuries. The man was then taken to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a short while after, and was pronounced deceased.

Through investigation it was determined that the deceased had been standing by the main door of 730 Yonge Street, when he was attacked by a male suspect who fled the scene on foot. It is undetermined whether or not the suspect and the deceased were known to each other.

The deceased has been identified as James Andrew Smith, 52, of Toronto.

Investigators would like to speak with anyone who had contact with James Smith in the hours leading up to his death. On Thursday, June 6, 2019, at approximately 9:45 a.m., officers responded to a Suspicious Death call in the Jarvis Street and Queen Street East area.

Paramedics and officers arrived at an apartment in the area and located a man, unconscious and not breathing. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

On Friday, June 7, 2019, an autopsy was conducted and it has been determined that the man is a victim of a homicide.

The man has been identified as Hassan Gutale Ali, 52, of Toronto.

He is known to frequent the Jarvis Street and Queen Street East area.

Homicide investigators are appealing to anyone that may have information regarding his activities prior to Thursday, June 6, 2019, to contact police.

The Toronto Police Service is seeking assistance with a Stabbing investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at approximately 8:20 p.m., a man, 50, was walking on Bloor Street East approaching the corner of Sherbourne Street

- he was stabbed by an unknown man, who then fled the area eastbound on the south side of Bloor Street East

- the victim was transported to hospital and is in serious condition

The wanted man is described as approximately 25 years of age. He was wearing a red hoodie sweater with a Raptors logo, blue jeans, grey/white shoes, with glasses, and carrying a bag.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the stabbing, recorded video on their cell phone or dashboard car camera in the area, or anyone who may have any information regarding this stabbing, to contact police.

The Toronto Police Service would like to thank the pubic for their assistance with this investigation.

A release was published on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, asking for public assistance locating a man wanted in a sexual assault investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Sunday, May 26, 2019, at approximately 2 a.m., a 26-year-old woman was in the Colborne Street and Scott Street area

- she was approached by an unknown man

- he befriended her and they spent time in the area

- he then sexually assaulted her and fled the area

On Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at 3:03 p.m., Curtis Plourde, 31, of no fixed address, was arrested in Toronto and charged with:

1. two counts of Sexual Assault
2. Fail to Comply Probation

He is scheduled to appear in court at College Park on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, 10 a.m., 501.

The Toronto Police Service would like to inform the public of an arrest made in a disturbance call.

On Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at 5:50 p.m., officers responded to a call for a demonstration in theChurch Street and Wellesley Street East area.

It is alleged that:

- a man attended the intersection and began speaking using a megaphone

- some of his messages caused alarm in the community

- he was asked to stop by residents and business owners numerous times

- he attracted a large hostile crowd

David Lynn, 39, of Toronto, is charged with:

1. Cause Disturbance

He appeared in court at Old City Hall on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at 10 a.m., in room 501.

Investigators believe there were many people who recorded this incident. They would like to speak to anyone who recorded or heard him speaking.

The Toronto Police Service would like the assistance of the public locating a man wanted in a sexual assault investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Sunday, May 26, 2019, at approximately 2 a.m., a 26-year-old woman was in the Colborne Street and Scott Street area

- she was approached by an unknown man

- he befriended her and they spent time in the area

- he then sexually assaulted her and fled the area

He is described as approximately 30, 5’8” – 5’9”, thin build, wearing blue jeans, dark hooded sweater, and tan coloured boots.
