On Saturday, June 8, 2019, at approximately 12:14 a.m., officers responded to a call for a medical complaint in the Yonge Street and Charles Street area.
Paramedics and police arrived on scene and located a man with life threatening injuries. The man was then taken to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a short while after, and was pronounced deceased.
Through investigation it was determined that the deceased had been standing by the main door of 730 Yonge Street, when he was attacked by a male suspect who fled the scene on foot. It is undetermined whether or not the suspect and the deceased were known to each other.
The deceased has been identified as James Andrew Smith, 52, of Toronto.
Investigators would like to speak with anyone who had contact with James Smith in the hours leading up to his death.
