51 Division Neighbourhood Officers

Neighbourhood Officers are dedicated to engaging and working with community members in the following 51 Division neighbourhoods:
  • Church/Wellesley Village
  • Moss Park
  • Regent Park
  • Yonge Street
Community policing is a priority of the Toronto Police Service. The future role of the Neighbourhood Officer will be different than what it looks like today because the Toronto Police Service is modernizing to improve the way it serves our communities.

In the near future, officers will be embedded in neighbourhoods and their assignments will be of three years in length with an option to extend to five years. Neighbourhood policing will also be the starting point for new police officers and they will be rotated through as part of their Community Response Unit training. These new officers will work with experienced Neighbourhood Officers, on foot and on bikes, building a foundation in community policing by engaging with local community members and helping to improve the safety and security of the area.

51 Division Community Response Unit (CRU)

Every neighbourhood has at least two Community Response Unit Officers.

Toronto Police Service has consistently emphasized the importance of having officers dedicated to neighbourhoods in order to build trust and strengthen community partnerships, aid in the understanding of the local environment, identify, prioritize and reduce crime and disorder, and assist in developing solutions to reduce crime and disorder.

While each neighbourhood has at least two assigned Community Response Unit Officers, they may sometimes be asked to respond to calls in other neighbourhoods, depending on the level of demand and the urgency of the situation.

Community members interested in speaking with their assigned Community Response Unit Officers are encouraged to call the 51 Division Community Response Unit Manager at 416-808-5152.
