Three Men and a Youth Arrested In Drug and Firearms Investigation

The Toronto Police Service is making the public aware of an arrest made in a Drug and Firearm investigation.

It is alleged that:

  • on Saturday, July 1, 2023, police investigated four people for a drug investigation
  • the four were arrested

It is further alleged that the following was located and seized:

  • a fully loaded 9mm Taurus handgun with 11 rounds of ammunition in the magazine
  • a quantity of drugs

Adriel Rodrigues, 22, of Toronto, was charged with:

  1. Possession of a Firearm Without Holding a Licence and Registration Certificate
  2. Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  3. Possession of a Loaded Firearm
  4. Careless Storage of A Firearm
  5. Carless Storage of Ammunition
  6. Occupy Motor Vehicle with a Firearm
  7. Carry Concealed Weapon 
  8. Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace
  9. Possess Prohibited/Restricted Device (Overcapacity Magazine) While Not Authorized
  10. Traffic a Schedule I Substance
  11. Three counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I Substance
  12. Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime - Under ($5000)
  13. Three counts of Possession of a Firearm While Prohibited by Court Order

Aaron Verghese, 21, of Burlington, was charged with:

  1. Possession of a Firearm Without Holding a Licence and Registration Certificate
  2. Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  3. Possession of a Loaded Firearm
  4. Careless Storage of A Firearm
  5. Carless Storage of Ammunition
  6. Occupy Motor Vehicle with a Firearm
  7. Carry Concealed Weapon 
  8. Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace
  9. Possess Prohibited/Restricted Device (Overcapacity Magazine) While Not Authorized
  10. Traffic a Schedule I Substance
  11. Three counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I Substance
  12. Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime - Under ($5000)

Awais Khan, 25, of Toronto, was charged with:

  1. Possession of a Firearm Without Holding a Licence and Registration Certificate
  2. Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  3. Possession of a Loaded Firearm
  4. Careless Storage of A Firearm
  5. Carless Storage of Ammunition
  6. Occupy Motor Vehicle with a Firearm
  7. Carry Concealed Weapon 
  8. Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace
  9. Possess Prohibited/Restricted Device (Overcapacity Magazine) While Not Authorized
  10. Traffic a Schedule I Substance
  11. Three counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I Substance
  12. Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime - Under ($5000)
  13. Four counts of Possession of a Firearm While Prohibited by Court Order

Awais Khan was also wanted on a Canada Wide Parole Warrant which was also executed upon his arrest.

A 15 year old male*, of Toronto, was charged with:

  1. Possession of a Firearm Without Holding a Licence and Registration Certificate
  2. Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  3. Possession of a Loaded Firearm
  4. Careless Storage of A Firearm
  5. Carless Storage of Ammunition
  6. Occupy Motor Vehicle with a Firearm
  7. Carry Concealed Weapon 
  8. Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace
  9. Possess Prohibited/Restricted Device (Overcapacity Magazine) While Not Authorized
  10. Traffic a Schedule I Substance
  11. Three counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I Substance
  12. Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime - Under ($5000)

They appeared in court on Sunday, July 2, 2023, at 10 a.m., at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre, 2201 Finch Avenue West, in courtroom 107.
