Project Safe Streets, Final Enforcement Results, 32 Division Traffic Initiative

Project Safe Streets was a 32 Division traffic safety initiative that started on Thursday, May 31, 2018 and finished on Thursday, June 7, 2018.

The purpose of the project was to address concerns of aggressive driving and other traffic offences on Yonge Street, between Finch Avenue and Sheppard Avenue.

32 Division officers, with the assistance of Traffic Services Motor Squad, issued a total of 256 offence notices to drivers for a variety of offences which included:

- Racing: 3
- Speeding: 44
- Fail to Stop for Red Light: 16
- Excessive Noise: 15
- Driving While Using Hand Held Device: 27
- Unsafe Lane Change: 8
- Fail to Yield to Pedestrian: 2
- Careless Driving
- Operate Motor Vehicle Without Insurance: 5
- Fail to Stop for Emergency Vehicle: 2

Please remember that drivers have the ability to make the roads safer for all road-users by reducing speed, eliminating distractions and considering others before yourself.
