Project Red Brick, Three men, one boy, face total of 48 charges, Wellesley Street East and Bleecker Street area, Two firearms, cash and drugs seized

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of recent arrests relating to Project Red Brick.

Members of the 51 Division Major Crime Unit have continued to investigate a number of shooting occurrences in and near the Regent Park community.

It is alleged that:

- in doing so, a motor vehicle was identified, believed to be related to at least two shooting occurrences.

- on Thursday, June 14, 2018, at approximately 7:15 p.m., members of the 51 Division Major Crime Unit located this motor vehicle parked in the underground garage of a building near Wellesley Street East and Bleecker Street.

- the vehicle had what appeared to be bullet holes in it

- four male occupants of the vehicle were arrested

- during a search conducted incident to arrest, two loaded firearms were located, both German Sport 1911 .22 calibre pistols

- also located during the search was a quantity of powdered cocaine, crack cocaine, marijuana, and cash

Lee Davis Rurimirije, 18; Haben Kebedom, 18; Robalee Balcha, 18; and a 17-year-old boy, all of Toronto, were arrested and each charged with:

1) two counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon in a Motor Vehicle
2) two counts of Careless Storage of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
3) two counts of Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
4) two counts of Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
5) two counts of Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
6) Possession of Marihuana for the Purpose of Trafficking
7) Possession of the Proceeds of Crime Under $5000

The men were scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall, on Friday, June 15, 2018, 10 a.m., room 103.

The Young Person was scheduled to appear in court at 311 Jarvis Street, on Friday, June 15, 2018, 10 a.m., room 1.

The Young Person cannot be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
