Media advisory, Saturday, September 26 and Sunday, September 27, 2015, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Toronto Police Service's Supplies for Success Initiative
Saturday, September 26, 2015 - 4:59 AM
The Toronto Police Service has developed an initiative to help set Toronto’s youth up for academic achievement.
The initiative is called “Supplies for Success” and Toronto Police Service staff have been collecting school supplies throughout September across our Divisions and headquarters, working to reach the goal of filling an entire police bus with supplies that will be delivered to Toronto’s students to help give their school year a boost.
Toronto Police Service will be parking a police bus at two locations and encouraging the public to drop in and donate supplies, while getting the opportunity to interact with members from our community:
Saturday, September 26, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Fairview Mall, 1800 Sheppard Avenue East.
Sunday, September 27, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Scarborough Town Centre, 300 Borough Drive.
Every day, Toronto Police officers rely on a variety of tools, from their uniform to their pen and notebook, to help carry out their duties and through this initiative Toronto Police hope to convey that same sense of confidence to our city's young people by helping to give them the tools of their trade: school supplies.
Staff Sergeant Greg Watts will be leading this initiative and can be reached at 647-262-6215 for questions/comments.
