City of Toronto to officially open the William Meany Maze on Toronto Island Park

City of Toronto Media Relations has issued the following:
==========================================

Media Advisory:  June 17, 2015

City of Toronto to officially open the William Meany Maze on Toronto Island Park

City officials and staff, along with businessman William Meany, will join members of the community to celebrate the opening of the William Meany Maze with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Date: Friday, June 19
Time: 11 a.m. to noon
Location: Centre Island, Avenue of the Island (over the bridge, to the right).

In 2012, the original Toronto Island hedge maze was dismantled after being crowded out by a cluster of nearby trees. Meany donated $200,000 to provide the materials and equipment required to rebuild the maze. The original 1967 blueprints by the late Peter Vanderwerf, landscape designer, were used to guide the restoration.
