Advance voting for 2014 election begins Tuesday, October 14

City of Toronto Media Relations has issued the following:

Advance voting for 2014 election begins Tuesday, October 14

Advance vote for Toronto's municipal election will run for six continuous days, from Tuesday, October 14 to Sunday, October 19 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 44 locations across the city. There is one voting place in each ward.

Advance voting will also be offered at Toronto City Hall from October 14 to 17. Electors, regardless of where they live in the city, can vote at City Hall.

The Voter Assist Terminal (VAT) is available at all advance vote locations, enabling electors with disabilities to mark their ballot independently.

An elector can vote in Toronto's municipal election if they:
• are a Canadian citizen, and
• are at least 18 years old, and
• live in the City of Toronto, or
• do not live in the City of Toronto, but they or their spouse own or rent property in the city, and
• are not prohibited from voting under any law.

An elector can only vote once in the City of Toronto municipal election regardless of how many properties they own or rent in the city.
Electors are reminded to take identification showing their name and qualifying Toronto address, and their voter information card when they go to vote.
