Public Safety Alert, Vehicle Warm Up Thefts, Downtown Core
Monday, February 18, 2019 - 9:05 AM
51 Division: 416-808-5100
The Toronto Police Service is warning members of the public that the arrival of extreme cold temperatures, and vehicles left unattended and warming up in driveways, has resulted in an increase number of vehicle thefts reported in and around the downtown core.
Reported cases have occurred in the area bounded by Dundas Street to the north, Lake Shore Boulevard to the south, Sherbourne Street to the east, and Bond Street to the west.
The convenience of a warm vehicle is not worth the risk of having it stolen. Police are strongly advising members of the public not to leave their vehicles unattended and running at any time.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-5100, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477), online at www.222tips.com, online on our Facebook Leave a Tip page, or text TOR and your message to CRIMES (274637).
