Woman, 21, faces 10 charges in Attempt Murder investigation, Shuter Street and George Street area

On Friday, June 29, 2018, at approximately 1 a.m., officers from 51 Division responded to a radio call for a shooting in the Shuter Street and George Street area.
It is alleged that:
- a verbal altercation occurred in the intersection between a 21-year-old pedestrian and the 21-year-old driver of a vehicle
- the driver exited her vehicle, went to the trunk, and removed a shotgun
- the driver then pointed the shotgun at the pedestrian and began to shoot at the pedestrian
- the driver then put the shotgun back into the trunk and drove away
- a 69-year-old man cycling in the area and the pedestrian sustained non-life-threatening gunshot injuries
The 51 Division Major Crime Unit started an investigation.
It is further alleged that:
- investigators identified the woman driving the vehicle
- search warrants were executed, and a quantity of drugs, a large sum of money, and drug paraphernalia were seized
On Saturday, June 30, 2018, at 3:35 a.m., Cassandra Beckett-Benjamin, 21, of Toronto, was arrested.
She is charged with:
1) Attempt Murder
2) Pointing a firearm
3) Assault with a weapon
4) Aggravated assault
5) Discharge firearm with intent to wound/endanger life
6) Possession of Unauthorized Firearm
7) Unauthorized possession of a firearm
8) Unauthorized possession of a firearm in motor vehicle
9) Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Schedule I
10) Possession of the Proceeds of Crime
She was scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Sunday, July 1, 2018, 10 a.m.
