The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of a quantity of dishwashing pods that were placed into children's trick-or-treat bags.
It was reported that:
- on Monday, October 31, 2016, in the evening, children were trick-or-treating with their parents in the Prescott Avenue, Blackthorn Avenue and Rockwell Avenue areas
- upon returning home, dishwashing pods were discovered in the children's bags
The pods could be harmful, if ingested, especially to children. If swallowed, detergent in even small amounts can be caustic and cause burns to the mouth, throat and airways.
