City of Toronto celebrates June is Recreation and Parks Month

Deputy Mayor Norm Kelly has officially proclaimed June 2014 as Recreation and Parks Month in Toronto, encouraging Torontonians to take advantage of the vast array of events, programs and services scheduled throughout the city during June.

“Individuals, families, neighbourhoods and communities find major benefits in our parks and green spaces and in our numerous recreation opportunities,” said Deputy Mayor Kelly. "The City of Toronto's excellent recreational programs, efficiently operated facilities, and safe, beautiful parks are accessible to people of all ages and abilities in our diverse communities.”

With a wide range of high-quality programs, Parks, Forestry and Recreation promotes social and physical development and leads the way to lifelong physical activity in all of Toronto’s local communities. More information is available at http://www.toronto.ca/parks.

Registration for Parks, Forestry and Recreation summer camps and general programs is ongoing. Registration for summer swimming and skating programs will begin at 7 a.m. on Saturday, June 7.
