On Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at 7 p.m., The Liberty Grand, Exhibition Place, Chief William Blair will hold his Chief of Police gala in support of Victim Services Toronto.
Chief Blair said, "Proceeds from this event support an organization that is highly valued, respected and essential. This evening is an important community event and a celebration of a vitally important and unique partnership between the Toronto Police Service and Victim Services Toronto. They are unsung heroes who do so much to restore, rebuild and enhance the quality of life of those affected by serious crime. They are the only agency in Toronto providing immediate on-site support to victims of crime and sudden tragedies. They offer invaluable programs and services, helping close to 20,000 victims annually."
Victim Services Toronto is managed by a diverse community volunteer Board of Directors. Their mission is to provide responsive, accessible and accountable programs and services that focus on restoring and enhancing victims' quality of life and the prevention of victimization.
They provide immediate crisis response, trauma and safety services to victims of crime or sudden tragic circumstance, in the following situations: domestic violence, sexual assault, gun violence, homicide, suicide, elder abuse, motor vehicle and workplace fatalities or accidents, community disaster, sudden death, break-and-enter, robbery, fraud, etc.
