Public Safety Alert, Several Suspected Overdoses in Downtown Toronto

The Toronto Police would like to notify the public about suspected overdoses in the downtown area.

It is reported that:

- between Thursday, April 23, 2020 and Monday, April 27, 2020, police responded to a number of reports of overdoses in the downtown area

- over 48 hours several people had fallen ill after taking an unknown narcotic

- multiple treatments of Naloxone were given

- two people died in private residences

The Toronto Police also wants to remind people that if they are using drugs, please be extremely cautious and do not take them alone.

If anyone encounters serious physical illness after consuming a narcotic, they are advised to attend a hospital emergency room or walk-in clinic immediately for treatment. For a referral to a substance abuse treatment facility, the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health can be reached at 1-800-463-2338.
