Public Safety Alert, Purported Canada Revenue Agency scam involving Bitcoins

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an ongoing purported Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) scam involving Bitcoins. 

The public should be aware of any of the following activities and know that:

- the CRA will not ask for overdue tax payments to be made by Bitcoin

- the CRA will not send you QR codes to make such payment

- the CRA will not send police officers to arrest individuals for immediate non-payment

If you have been contacted by someone claiming to be an agent for the CRA, please be cautious regarding the information you are providing. Do not be afraid to ask for any credentials and to ask for a phone number to call once you have confirmed all the
credentials. 

Please contact your local police to report the incident.
