11 Division:  416-808-1100

On Wednesday, July 20, 2016, the Toronto Police Service has noted an increase in the number of phone calls people have reported receiving from parties claiming to be from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

Police would like to remind the citizens of Toronto, that the CRA will never contact people via telephone, text or email and ask for personal information or demand payment for taxes in the form of pre-paid credit cards, iTunes, or other gift cards.

Police also want to inform the public that no one from the CRA, police, or immigration, will contact you via phone to advise you that a warrant is taken out for your arrest due to non-payment of taxes.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-1100, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477), online at www.222tips.com, text TOR and your message to CRIMES (274637). Download the free Crime Stoppers Mobile App on iTunes, Google Play or Blackberry App World.

Please download the Toronto Police Service Mobile App for iOS or Android.
