Official opening of St. Lawrence North Market temporary
location
Deputy Mayor Pam McConnell (Ward 28 Toronto
Centre-Rosedale) will cut the ribbon at the grand opening of the temporary
location of the North Market in the St. Lawrence Market complex on Saturday.
Date: Saturday, July 11
Time: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., ribbon-cutting ceremony from 10
to 10:30 a.m.
Location: 125 The Esplanade, at south end of the market
complex
The temporary location for all former North Market
building activities at the St. Lawrence Market Complex will officially open
during the day-long celebration, featuring food supplied by St. Lawrence Market
merchants. Pan Am-themed musical entertainment will include reggae, tango,
salsa and blues.
Market Street will be closed from Front Street to Wilton
Street from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. for Saturday's event, and The Esplanade from
Jarvis Street to Church Street will also be closed to traffic during that period.
The St. Lawrence Market South will have extended hours
during the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am and Parapan Am Games. Extended hours: Tuesday to
Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturdays 5 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sundays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The extended hours apply to participating vendors.
The relocation of the North Market activities will allow
business to continue while design and construction of the North Market building
are underway. Completion of the new building is currently scheduled for 2017.
