Tuesday, September 10, 2013 - 2:03 PM
23 Division:  416-808-2300

On Wednesday, September 11, 2013, between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m., Superintendent Ron Taverner, Unit Commander of 23 Division, will host a Virtual Town Hall to discuss community policing with a focus on the efforts of his Somali Liaison Unit.

The Toronto Police Service has partnered with Prime Contact and approximately 1,000 residents from 23 Division, specifically from the Dixon Road community, have been randomly selected to participate in this discussion.

As a result, members of the public may receive a phone call on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 or Wednesday, September 11, 2013, inviting them to listen in, ask questions and join other community members in discussion.

The Toronto Police Service would ask those who receive a phone call to consider this very important invitation. Every participant will have the opportunity to provide valuable input.

Superintendent Taverner will be joined by Inspector Scott Baptist and officers from the Somali Liaison Unit: Sergeant Chris Laush, Constable Horace Harvey, Constable Tariq Khan, Constable Ammar Khan, and Constable Deanna Jovanovich.

Urdu, Punjabi and Somali, in addition to English, are the languages spoken by the officers participating in the Virtual Town Hall.
