Financial Crimes Unit:  416-808-7300

Just in time for the back-to-school season, the Toronto Police Service's Financial Crimes Unit is hosting a series of online chats on fraud and scams targeting students.

These chats, which are part of the #Fraudchat program, will cover the following topics:

• Back-to-school scams (September 5, 2013)
• Job/recruitment scams targeting students (September 12, 2013)
• Youth and identity theft (September 19, 2013)

To follow the chats, members of the public can log on to Twitter from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. EST on Thursday nights and follow the #fraudchat hashtag. An application such as "Tweetdeck," which allows users to separately view tweets containing this hashtag, is also helpful in following the chat.
