The Toronto Police Service is making the public aware of an arrest made in a Fraud and Theft investigation.
It is alleged that:
- between August 2023 and February 2024, the accused operated two jewelry stores
- one store is located at 345 Bloor Street East - Amiza Diamond
- the second store is located at 543 Danforth Avenue - Inaza Diamond
- victims would attend and drop off their jewelry pieces for appraisals or repairs
- the accused also offered loan services
- when victims would return to pick up their jewelry the store was closed
- the accused did not return their jewelry
On Wednesday, March 27, 2024, Amin Hasmani, 67, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:
- two counts of Fraud Under
- two counts of Theft Under
- two counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under
He was scheduled to appear in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre, 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at 10 a.m., in room 106.
The investigation remains ongoing and police believe there may be more victims. An image has been released.
