On Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 3:28 a.m., police responded to a report of a fatal collision involving a motor vehicle in the area of Polson Street and Cherry Street area.

It is reported that:

• a vehicle with two occupants was travelling at a high rate of speed southbound on Cherry Street
• the vehicle was approaching a bridge over Lake Ontario which was under construction
• the vehicle lost control, left the roadway, and entered the water
• the male passenger suffered minor injuries and was transported to hospital
• the second male was pronounced deceased at the scene

The investigation is ongoing by members of Traffic Services.

Police are asking residents, businesses and drivers who may have security or dash camera footage of the area or incident to contact investigators.
