The Toronto Police Service recognizes the danger that impaired driving poses to all road-users and therefore is vigilant in our measures to recognize, intervene and deal with those people who endanger us all.
This weekend, with Super Bowl 52 on Sunday, the Service will increase its efforts to protect you with multiple R.I.D.E. Programs and patrols targeting those offenders. The message is, and always will be, “If you drink or use drugs, don’t drive.”
The Service would also remind everyone that choosing a responsible option to driving is the first step. Public transit, designated drivers, taxis and hotels are all excellent choices.
It is also worth noting that walking while intoxicated is extremely dangerous to your own safety. Many pedestrians have been seriously injured or killed from walking, stumbling or falling into traffic.
If you see someone who appears to be, or you know is, driving or about to drive impaired, call 9-1-1. The life you save could be your loved one.
The message is clear: DO NOT DRINK OR USE DRUGS AND DRIVE.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-1900, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477), online at www.222tips.com, or text TOR and your message to CRIMES (274637). Download the free Crime Stoppers Mobile App on iTunes, Google Play or Blackberry App World.
