Traffic Services: 416-808-1900
Canada Road Safety Week is a national traffic safety and enforcement initiative conducted in partnership with the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police and police services across Canada. This co-ordinated effort between policing agencies is aiming to achieve the goal of making Canada's roads the safest in the world.
Canada Road Safety Week will start on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, and will conclude Monday, May 19, 2014. The goal of this campaign is to identify poor driving habits and behaviour and increase safety through education, awareness and enforcement and, ultimately, save lives.
All police and parking enforcement officers will be paying attention to all traffic laws, including enforcement of impaired operation by alcohol or drugs, pedestrian offences, failure or improper use of seatbelts/child restraints, intersection safety and aggressive driving.
Distracted driving continues to be a problem on our roads which puts other road-users at risk. Special attention will be paid to those drivers who continue to display a total disregard for other users of the road by using hand-held communication and entertainment devices while driving.
