#Fraudchat running series on cyber security, Thursday, December 12, 2013, 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. EST, Counterfeit goods
Thursday, December 12, 2013 - 8:00 AM
Financial Management: 416-808-7300
With the holiday season upon us, #Fraudchat will be talking about scams and frauds consumers face throughout December. This evening, counterfeit goods will be discussed. These goods pose significant health and economic dangers to Canadians all year, but especially through the holidays as we shop for gifts for our family and friends.
During the #Fraudchat on Thursday, December 12, 2013, the special guests will be representatives from Kestenberg Siegal Lipkus LLP (@KSLLAW). This law firm specializes in counterfeit and trademark infringements and works extensively with law enforcement agencies across the continent.
Lorne M. Lipkus, partner, and David S. Lipkus, lawyer at Kestenberg Siegal Lipkus LLP, will help us to identify counterfeit goods and discuss at length what to do if you’ve been sold fake goods. They will discuss in detail the health dangers these goods pose to all of us. They will also explain how sales of counterfeit goods damage the Canadian economy, jobs, and working conditions in many countries.
To follow the chats, members of the public simply need log on to Twitter from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m., EST on Thursday nights and follow the #Fraudchat hashtag. An application such as "Tweetdeck," which allows users to separately view tweets containing this hashtag, is also helpful in following the chat.
