The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of arrests made in a fraud investigation.
It is alleged that:
- a 75-year-old woman hired a contractor to do renovations at her residence in the area of Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue West
- the contractor defrauded the woman of over $1,000,000
- further investigation revealed from February 2011 to October 2022, another 14 victims in the Greater Toronto Area had been defrauded in the same manner of over $400,000 combined. Five of these victims were also elderly.
On Monday, November 14, 2022, three men were arrested by members of the Financial Crimes Unit.
Antonio Sinopoli, 54, of Toronto, is charged with:
- two counts of Fraud Over $5000
- Possession of Proceeds of Crime
- Laundering Proceeds of Crime
Wayne McNeil, 45, of Toronto, is charged with:
- two counts of Fraud Over $5000
Francesco Sinopoli, 27, of Toronto, is charged with:
- Fraud Over $5000
They will attend court on Friday, December 16, 2022, at 1000 Finch Avenue West, in room 301 at 2:30 p.m.
Police believe there may be more victims. The Contractor operated under the following company names in the GTA area:
- In Time For Finishing Touches
- Scala Exteriors
- AFS Contracting and Design
- Upper Level Renovations
