Police request assistance with Assault investigation, Yonge Street and Carleton Street area, Security camera image of suspect released

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an Assault investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Monday, April 23, 2018, at approximately 8:30 p.m., a 34-year-old wheelchair-bound man went to the Shoppers Drug Mart in the Yonge Street and Carleton Street area

- while shopping, an unknown man approached him, grabbed both his arms and pinned them to his wheelchair

- when a witness intervened, the suspect claimed he was the victim's caregiver

- the victim was able to break free and the suspect followed him southbound on Yonge Street

- the suspect gave chase and attempted several times to grab the victim's wheelchair

The suspect is described as 45-50, 5'9" - 5'10", heavy build, olive complexion, brown hair. He was wearing a dark-coloured hooded sweatshirt with 'EllisDon' written on the front.

A security camera image of the suspect is released.
