Arrest made in shooting investigation, Bloor Street East and Castle Frank Road area

The Toronto Police Service would like to inform the public of an arrest made in a recent shooting investigation.

On Friday, May 10, 2019, at 10:06 p.m., officers responded to a shooting in the Bloor Street East and Castle Frank Road area.

It is alleged that:

- A 34-year-old man stopped his car at a traffic light

- A white hatchback vehicle pulled up along side the first vehicle

- A person in the white hatchback vehicle shot multiple rounds into the other car hitting the 34-year-old man

- the 34-year-old man fled the scene in his car fearing for his life

- He became unconscious as he fled and crashed his vehicle into a nearby building

- The suspect(s) fled the area

Toronto Police Investigators, with assistance from the community, executed a search warrant in a home in East York. The following items were seized:

- A 9 mm firearm and the magazine

- A white hatchback vehicle

Maliq Crush, 26, of Toronto, was arrested. He appeared at College Park courts on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 and is charged with:

1. Attempted Murder
2. Discharge Firearm with Intent
3. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
4. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
5. Careless Storage of a Firearm
6. Possession of a Prohibited Firearm
7. Possession of a Firearm Knowing Its Possession is Unauthorized
8. Tamper with Serial Number

Investigators believe there was a second suspect in the white hatchback vehicle. This suspect remains outstanding.
