City of Toronto construction projects resume following Pan Am/Parapan Am Games

A number of construction projects in the City of Toronto will start again following a pause for the Pan Am/Parapan Am Games. The projects that will resume include:

● Road resurfacing and sidewalk work on Dufferin Street from Lawrence Avenue West to Jane Osler Boulevard (just south of Highway 401) will take place from August 19 to November 6. During the construction period, one lane of traffic will be available in each direction from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.  Full lanes of traffic on this segment of Dufferin Street will reopen every morning.

● The northbound lanes of Lower Sherbourne Street from Lake Shore Boulevard to Front Street will be closed from August 17 to September 28.

One lane of southbound traffic will be available.  Northbound traffic on Lower Sherbourne Street will be diverted to Parliament Street and Lower Jarvis Street.  Pedestrian access will be provided on the east side of Lower Sherbourne Street and access to businesses and residents will be maintained.

● Work on the Gardiner Expressway from Strachan Avenue to Bathurst Street will resume on Wednesday, August 19.  The Gardiner Expressway will be reduced from three to two lanes in each direction.

Other construction projects that have begun this week include:

● Road resurfacing work and sidewalk replacements will take place on O'Connor Drive from Broadview Avenue to Greenwood Avenue from August 17 to November.  Extended construction hours from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. will reduce the project duration.  One lane of traffic will be available in each direction.  The entire intersection of Don Mills Road and O'Connor Drive will be closed during the weekend of August 28 to August 31.

● Road resurfacing work will take place on The Queensway from east of Islington Avenue to Kipling Avenue from August 17 to the end of November.  Extended construction hours from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. will reduce the project duration. Two lanes of traffic will be available in each direction.  There will be some periods of 24-hour work in the intersections of Kipling Avenue and Islington Avenue.

A number of events and activities will be taking place in the city over the next few weeks including the Canadian National Exhibition.  Please plan your trip and consider public transit or carpooling when attending these events.
