The Toronto Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in a residential Break and Enter investigation.

On Sunday, May 26, 2019, police responded to a call for a Residential Break and Enter in theHuntley Street and Linden Street area.

It is reported that:

- on the same date, between the hours of 8:00 a.m., and 3:00 p.m., while the residents were away, unknown person(s) entered and ransacked the home

- the suspect(s) stole several valuable items, which included: watches, jewelry and purses; in all exceeding a total value of $500,000

The Toronto Police Service is seeking the public's assistance locating a man wanted in a Break and Enter investigation.

On Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at approximately 7:00 a.m., Police responded to a break and enter call to a restaurant in the King Street East and Jarvis Street area.

It is alleged that:

- a man forcibly entered the restaurant through the main entrance, causing extensive damage to the door

- the man rummaged through property and fled the location

Nathan Otke, 33, of Toronto, is wanted on a warrant for:

1. Break and Enter with Intent

He is described as 6'2", 205 lbs., medium build, brown hair, brown beard with a moustache.

The Toronto Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance locating a woman wanted in a Break and Enter investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Friday, February 15, 2019, at approximately 3:30 p.m., a woman gained entry into a condominium building in the Jarvis Street and Dundas Street East area

- the woman ransacked through a few locations in the building causing damage and obtained a quantity of clothing

Daisy Warriner, 21, of Toronto, is wanted on a warrant for:

1. Break Enter and Commit
2. Mischief Under $5,000
3. Theft Under $5,000

She is described as 5’4, 120 lbs., medium build, brown eyes, with long black hair.

The Toronto Police Service requests the public's assistance identifying a man and a woman wanted in "pick pocket" style thefts at restaurants in the downtown core.

On Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at approximately 6:50 p.m., a man and woman entered a restaurant in the Bremner Boulevard and York Street area.

It is alleged that:

- They walked toward the bar

- The man concealed his hand by placing his jacket over it

- He stole a wallet from an unsuspecting person

- They then exited the restaurant

On Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at approximately 7 p.m., a man and woman entered a restaurant in the Yonge Street and Dundas Street West area.

It is alleged that:

- They walked into the bar area

- The man concealed his hand beneath his jacket

- He stole a wallet from an unsuspecting person

- They then left the restaurant

The man is described as late 20s to early 30s, with a black beard.

The woman is described as mid 20s to early 30s, with long blonde hair.

Security camera video and an image have been released.

Torontonians surrender over 2,700 guns through Gun Buyback Program

The Toronto Police Service received more than 2,700 unwanted guns from Toronto residents from April 26 to May 17, 2019.

Over the three-week Gun Buyback Program, police collected over 1,900 long guns and over 800 handguns for destruction. It is the largest number of firearms collected through a gun buyback program in Toronto.

Chief Mark Saunders and Mayor John Tory noted the three-week program is one of the many measures that can contribute to community safety in Toronto.

"We are pleased with the participation of Torontonians taking steps to safely dispose of unwanted guns in their homes. These guns can present a potential danger if they fall into the wrong hands," said Chief Mark Saunders said. "Removing access to these guns, many of which are not securely stored, contributes to community safety.”

"Gun violence remains a serious concern for both the community and law enforcement. We know ending gun violence will take a variety of measures – there is no one magic answer," said Mayor John Tory. "Every gun surrendered is one less gun in our community and one less gun potentially available to people who want to cause problems in our city."

In July 2018, Toronto City Council adopted the Immediate Steps to Address Gun Violence report, which included a Council decision to establish a gun buyback program. The City of Toronto funded the program with unanimous approval from City Council.

Under the Gun Buyback Program, Toronto residents were able to request police pick up a registered or unregistered gun from their home for destruction for compensation amounting to $200 for long guns and $350 for handguns. Residents who turned over guns to police for destruction would not face charges for possessing or unsafely storing a firearm.

The Toronto Police Service would like to inform the public of an arrest made in a recent shooting investigation.

On Friday, May 10, 2019, at 10:06 p.m., officers responded to a shooting in the Bloor Street East and Castle Frank Road area.

It is alleged that:

- A 34-year-old man stopped his car at a traffic light

- A white hatchback vehicle pulled up along side the first vehicle

- A person in the white hatchback vehicle shot multiple rounds into the other car hitting the 34-year-old man

- the 34-year-old man fled the scene in his car fearing for his life

- He became unconscious as he fled and crashed his vehicle into a nearby building

- The suspect(s) fled the area

Toronto Police Investigators, with assistance from the community, executed a search warrant in a home in East York. The following items were seized:

- A 9 mm firearm and the magazine

- A white hatchback vehicle

Maliq Crush, 26, of Toronto, was arrested. He appeared at College Park courts on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 and is charged with:

1. Attempted Murder
2. Discharge Firearm with Intent
3. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
4. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
5. Careless Storage of a Firearm
6. Possession of a Prohibited Firearm
7. Possession of a Firearm Knowing Its Possession is Unauthorized
8. Tamper with Serial Number

Investigators believe there was a second suspect in the white hatchback vehicle. This suspect remains outstanding.
