3rd Annual Building Bridges Fundraiser Preliminary Results

We would like to thank you for your generous support for the Building Bridges Gala fundraiser and the George Brown Foundation endowment in the name of the ‘51 Division Community Police Liaison Committee’. We are proud to inform you that we achieved our goal this year and the total funds, to be confirmed in the spring, will be delivered to George Brown Foundation and then matched by the Government of Ontario. When the Foundation report is received confirming our total, we will advise our supporters. Based on past matching rates we expect to have close to $50,000.00 in our endowment! We are grateful and pleased to be able to say that you were a part of what is a milestone for the 51 Division CPLC.

As always, we are honoured to have George Brown College as our co-presenter of the fashion and art show again this year, and thrilled to have Global Toronto and the Toronto Star on board as media sponsors. As mentioned, this year’s gala art wall will be donated to Nelson Mandela Public School in September 2012 when they re-open with their new facility in Regent Park.

A ‘thank you’ note was just received from our current year’s recipient in which she relayed a story of her past doubts at continuing with her post-secondary education. She acknowledges the role and influence of generous, caring people in the community that she feels blessed to have met. She expressed her gratitude, specifically, to our circle of wonderful supporters.

Our 4th annual Building Bridges Gala is set for Thursday, November 1st, 2011 the details of which will also be confirmed in the spring of 2012. We hope that you will consider attending and/or sponsoring our efforts once again next year.

Thank you again for helping to make this year’s gala a tremendous success, fortifying and growing the existing endowment so that we may provide much needed educational assistance to the youth of our community. We hope that we can count on your continued support to help us achieve that goal.

Sincerely,

Deborah Devgan | 51 Division CPLC Gala Co-Chair
Superintendent John Tanouye | 51 Division CPLC Gala Co-Chair
